Alberto Bombassei is the new President of the Italy China Foundation. The patron of Brembo follows Cesare Romiti, who after fifteen years has left the leadership of the institution he set up and presided over until today.
The handover took place during the Board of Directors that was held today at Palazzo Clerici. In front of the councilors, Romiti announced his resignation and proposed the Engineer Bombassei as his successor. The vote ratified its indications, but the Council also asked that the founder remain as Honorary President. Diana Bracco also confirmed as Executive Vice President. Subsequently, the nomination was announced before the Shareholders' Meeting.
"In 2003 I created the Foundation with the aim of strengthening our Country System in China and favoring the arrival of Chinese companies in Italy - recalled Cesare Romiti -. In these years we have worked hard to show that China was not a danger, as many understood it, but a great opportunity and we hope to have succeeded in this endeavor. I am sure that Alberto Bombassei with his curriculum and his great experience, outside and inside our national borders and with an eye particularly attentive to China, will be able to continue successfully on the path taken".
The new President, accepting the assignment, wanted to thank Cesare Romiti for the important work of rapprochement carried out between Italy and China, and indicated the first priorities of his presidency.
"We are living in a moment in which the certainties that have accompanied and promoted, from the post-war period until today, economic development and the spread of wellbeing all over the world are questioned" said Alberto Bombassei. "It grows, in large parts of the population and especially in that West that has always encouraged its affirmation, a strong hostility towards processes such as globalization and multilateralism. It is also for the convinced defense of these values that I am grateful to the assembly, and in particular to the president Cesare Romiti, for the opportunity that has offered me. I accepted the presidency of the Italy China Foundation with great enthusiasm and I hope to be able to contribute through my entrepreneurial, associative and parliamentary experience to its further growth. In these 15 years of activity, the Foundation has been able to conquer, thanks to the quality of the work of its president and of the entire structure, a central role in the development of the dialogue between our country and the second economy in the world. This relationship will grow in importance, especially in a historical phase in which a short-sighted and muscular vision of international and commercial relations seems to be affirmed".
