Impacts of China's 20th National Party Congress on SMEs

The EU SME Centre and the Italy China Council Foundation co-organise a webinar to analyse the impacts of the outcomes of the 20th Party Congress on European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) doing business or planning to do business with China. Will there be changes to the dynamic zero-COVID policy and travelling restrictions? What measures will the government be adopting to revive the economy? These are some of the questions our experts will be discussing during the webinar.

Alessandro Zadro, ICCF
Alessandro Zadro is Head of Research Department at Italy China Council Foundation (ICCF). Former Program Manager at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, both in Italy and in China, and Business Development Manager for Cercius Group, a geopolitical intelligence and strategic consulting company focused on China. He spent five years between Beijing and Chongqing where he successfully carried out, together with a team from Sant'Anna, a two-year feasibility study for the launch of a series of academic projects in southwestern China. He covers China’s political economy, trade and investment relations between the EU and China. He holds a Master's in Political Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a Master's in International Relations from Peking University.

Jacob Gunter, MERICS
Jacob Gunter is a Senior Analyst Economy at MERICS. He brings ten years of experience in China to the role, including the most recent four years as the Lead Pen of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, where he served as the Senior Policy and Communications Manager. He covers China's political economy, industrial policy, innovation, self-reliance, decoupling, and examines how the EU can better economically compete with China in third markets.
Gunter has a dual Master's degree in Sinology and International Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS and Nanjing University through the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in International Business from the University of Denver Daniel's College of Business. He has studied and worked in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai and Yuyao, Zhejiang.
